Country first?

It’s amazing that the Party of Lincoln will nominate a secessionist as vice presidential candidate. Palin was a member of a party calling for Alaska to secede from the union. Her husband was registered with the party, too. Even as governor, he addressed the party’s convention, as seen on YouTube. The party’s motto is "Alaska First, Alaska Always."

Meanwhile, unaware of an open mic, Peggy Noonan says what she really thinks about Palin.

Update: Read Time’s exclusive about how Mayor Palin sought to ban books from the public library.

And if you need a laugh after considering she might indeed win, here’s John Ridley’s Guide to Palangauge, from HuffPost.

9/4 Update: Here’s the latest secesh news from the New York Times. Considering how effectively the McCain camp has cowed the corporate media, it may be a long time before we get the truth. We already know that these "conservatives" hate the United States government as an article of faith.

But that was before she knew some lunatic would select her as VP running mate. Who would have known? Not her fault. Also not her fault is that her school age daughter doesn’t use birth control. What is her fault is that she had a baby with down syndrome at age 44. What is her fault is that she still believes that Adam and Eve populated the planet after having a down syndrome baby.

But Palin also opposed teen sex education.

Nobody has mentioned her sub par education. She has a bachelors degree in journalism from Idaho. That’s it. No offense Jon.

One of Mr. Talton’s “Front Page” links (easy to overlook) contains the following remarkable quotation from Palin’s minister:
    * * *
Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government’s handling of Hurricane Katrina. “I hate criticisms towards the President,” he said, “because it’s like criticisms towards the pastor — it’s almost like, it’s not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That’s what it’ll get you.”

“Where are the critics of Rev. Wright?” indeed. The difference seems to be that whereas Obama was an infrequent churchgoer who, motivated by a misguided sense of racial solidarity, was initially reluctant to unequivocally criticize his pastor, Palin seems to be a devout churchgoer who has swallowed the rhetoric hook, line and sinker.
Those who think that this is merely a one-off quote should read the entire article and watch the video of Palin addressing the Holy Rollers at the Wasilla Assembly of God.

  5. This link was sent to me by a librarian colleague. Many of us do not see her as a friend of libraries or librarians.

Lincoln, T. Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Goldwater are spinning in their graves by this point. I can’t even bear to hear the current batch of religious nutbags compare this aberration to Lincoln or Roosevelt.

Your Country First information is totally inaccurate.
Sarah Palin was never a member of the Alaska Independence Party. You can go to the party’s own website and find the following quote from their chairman:
I, foolishly, repeated and accepted as fact what an officer of this membership shared with myself, and husband Dexter Clark, over a year ago. My statement was incorrect regarding the Governor’s membership. What was correct was that Todd Palin was a member, that Sarah as a candidate for Governor appeared at the AIP Convention in 2006, and sent a welcoming DVD to the membership at the 2008 AIP statewide convention. Those truths do not take away my fault in mis-speaking regarding her membership. For that I do take full responsibility. I hold Governor Palin in high regard, I believe she is far and away the best individual Alaska could have as Governor, and as a woman, mother and wife is one of the best examples walking!
Thank you and again, I apologize to all.

It is unfortunate that you do not have your facts straight. Misinformation is dangerous and irresponsible.
