With Tom Daschle finally buried under the avalanche of his conflicts of interest, how about a candidate from the Democratic wing of the Democratic party? Dean is a physician. With his successful 50-state resuscitation of the Democratic Party, he's shown he can run a complex organization. As a governor, he has executive experience. He's progressive and independent and nobody owns him. Will those attributes be disqualifying?
Meanwhile, watch this old Daschle campaign ad. Laugh or cry.
There are a lot of people calling for Dr. Dean to head HHS.
There is even a Facebook Group

I love the idea of Dean at HHS. Unfortunately, Obama seems paralyzed by Conventional Wisdom, which in this case damns Dean for premature courage on Iraq, along with attitudes upsetting to our Patriotic Thought Police.
I like Howard Dean. I would have preferred him for President, but I’ll take a cabinet post at HHS.
I never understood why yelling “Yeah!” during a partisan pep rally disqualified him. I went back, just now, and watched a YouTube clip of his “famous scream” and found it absolutely innocuous. The worst that can be said is that his voice broke a little, but if you’ve been travelling from one speaking event to another that tenor is going to crack eventually.
I think it’s a great idea!
I think it’s a great idea, too.
Not sure Obama’s chief of staff will agree though.
Rahm Emanuel and Dean had more than a few run-ins while Emanuel was running the DCCC (mostly failing with annointed candidates) and Dean was running the DNC (mostly succeeding with a “50 state strategy.”
